Marks & Spencer (M&S) is set to enhance its footprint across London with the opening of four new stores and significant refurbishments at six existing locations as part of its expansion strategy in 2026. This ambitious programme reflects M&S’s ongoing commitment to delivering quality retail experiences to London shoppers.
Earlier this year, M&S launched two new supermarkets in London, including an 8,900-square-foot food hall at Tooting Broadway, which opened on May 27. This was quickly followed by another store opening on Tottenham Court Road, demonstrating the retailer’s momentum in growing its London presence.
The expansion will continue with two additional stores anticipated later this year: one at Bell Green Retail Park in Sydenham and another at The Elephant Development in Elephant and Castle, scheduled to open in autumn or winter.

In tandem with these new openings, M&S is undertaking major refurbishments at six of its existing London stores, ensuring a refreshed and modern shopping environment across its estate.
Sacha Berendji, Operations Director at Marks & Spencer, commented, “London has always held a special place for M&S, evolving from humble penny bazaars to contemporary Foodhalls like our recently revamped Brixton location. Our upcoming stores underscore our sustained investment and ambition to serve customers across London—from Brixton to Barnet—for many years to come.”
A spokesperson for M&S emphasized the company’s broader expansion efforts, revealing that 15 new stores have already opened across the UK this year alone, reflecting a strong retail growth trajectory.
In addition to its store investments, M&S has launched a new career initiative titled Not Just Any Career, aiming to create 1,000 training opportunities for young people throughout the UK and Ireland. This programme focuses on developing leadership skills and providing clear career pathways in retail, without requiring a degree. It welcomes applications from both existing M&S employees and external candidates aged 18 to 24, including school leavers, to build a skilled retail workforce for the future.
