The mother of Ali Durrani, a dearly loved family man, has made an emotional appeal as she prepares to mark his second birthday since his disappearance. Ali has now been missing for over 18 months, despite a £10,000 reward offered for information leading to his whereabouts.
In a video released by the Missing People charity, Ali’s mother, Mahjabeen, spoke from the heart: “Ali, my son, your birthday is coming up soon. It’s been such a long time. I haven’t seen your beautiful face, your beautiful smile, or heard your voice. Where are you? I miss you so much. It’s so heartbreaking not knowing where you are.
“You missed out on so much this year: birthdays, celebrations, your nephew growing up, among other things.”
Ali was 32 years old when he was last seen on 6 February 2025 near the junction of Middlemore Road and West Heath Road in Northfield. He had left his home in Selly Oak the day before, with a further sighting placing him in Turves Green.
At the time of his disappearance, Ali was described as an Asian male of medium build, with short black hair and a black beard. He was last seen wearing a khaki raincoat, blue jeans, brown lace-up shoes, and carrying a black backpack with blue trim.

Superintendent Susan Mabbett from West Midlands Police commented earlier this year: “This has been an extensive investigation led by our specialist Locate team. We have deployed resources from across the force, including our drones team and specialist search officers, and received support from British Transport Police and West Midlands Fire Service in the search for Ali.
“We continue to appeal to the public for any information that might assist the investigation to help us find Ali.”
