Solihull Council has recently completed an assessment of over 70 green belt sites within the borough to identify areas classified as ‘grey belt’ land. These ‘grey belt’ sites are defined as lower-quality, low-value sections of the protected green belt that may have potential for future development. The council emphasises, however, that this assessment does not mean these sites will automatically be developed. Instead, it forms part of a careful review process to inform future planning decisions, ensuring that any potential development is considered responsibly in line with environmental protections and community needs. Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to stay informed as the council continues to evaluate these areas.
