Midlands Town of Solihull Named Among England’s Best Places to Live

A new study has highlighted Solihull, located in the West Midlands, as one of the best places to live in England, especially for families seeking peace and tranquility away from urban chaos.

Ranked as the most peaceful place in England, Solihull stands out for those looking to escape the noise, crime, traffic, and pollution common in larger cities. Experts from Sell House Fast conducted the study, examining key factors such as noise complaints, light pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and the presence of sewage works.

With just 2.7 noise complaints per 1,000 residents over the past year, Solihull outperforms other peaceful locations like Wiltshire, Peterborough, and South Gloucestershire. Another Midlands area, the rural county of Shropshire, also earned a spot in the top 10, ranking 8th overall.

The study scored each area on a scale of 1 to 10 for calmness, and Solihull achieved an impressive 2.28, indicating very low environmental disturbance compared to major cities. Greenhouse gas emissions in Solihull are well below the national average, and only 9.3% of the land is affected by artificial light at night, providing residents with darker, more natural night skies.

Solihull’s serenity is further protected by strict land use policies. Over two-thirds of the area is designated as green belt land, limiting large-scale development and helping to maintain its peaceful atmosphere.

For families who can afford it, Solihull represents an ideal location to enjoy a quiet, safe, and green environment, blending the benefits of countryside living with proximity to the amenities of the West Midlands.
