Midlands Streamer Devastated After £20,000 Worth of Rare Cards Stolen in Burglary

Sam Hemus, a dedicated card collector and streamer from Netherton in the Midlands, was left deeply upset after burglars broke into his home and stole a box of cards valued at £20,000.

Sam’s passion for card collecting began six years ago, sparked by the growing demand for rare items. Since then, he has transformed his hobby into a thriving full-time business under the name SK Cards. His Instagram page and presence on the social shopping and streaming platform Whatnot have earned him a loyal following of 14,000 fans.

One of Sam’s most remarkable sales was an autographed Mohamed Salah card, which fetched an impressive £40,000. However, on January 2nd, the streamer suffered a significant setback. After informing his followers on a live stream that he would be spending Friday evening with family in Sutton Coldfield, Sam’s summer house in Netherton was broken into by two masked intruders.

The thieves targeted and stole a single box containing 24 unopened autographed football cards, the most valuable in his collection. Reviewing his CCTV footage, Sam is certain that someone familiar with his videos was behind the theft, stating, “I’m one million percent sure it’s a trader or someone in the card scene who has done this. They knew the box’s value, which was the only one taken.”

In response to the incident, Sam has moved his remaining stock to a secure storage unit for protection and remains committed to his streaming and business activities, determined not to let the burglary derail his progress.

The card community has rallied around Sam, with a GoFundMe fundraiser quickly raising over £2,000 towards the £20,000 target. Sam expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support, saying, “I’m overwhelmed that people think of me like that to donate. It makes all the effort worth it.”

West Midlands Police continue to investigate the burglary at Lea Bank Road, Netherton. They urge anyone with information to contact them via Live Chat or call 101, quoting the reference 20/101849/26.
