The West Midlands boasts some of the most prestigious streets, featuring mansions valued at over £2 million. A recently launched interactive map now allows residents and curious onlookers alike to explore where these luxury homes are located within the region.
While the greatest concentration of high-value properties is, unsurprisingly, found around London and the Southeast, the Midlands also showcases a wealth of exclusivity. Notably, areas in and around Birmingham, particularly in and near Solihull, have a significant number of these premium homes.
For instance, the postcode B94 includes a mansion priced at an impressive £3.35 million, making it one of the top-valued properties in the Midlands. This area encompasses affluent villages such as Hockley Heath and Dorridge, frequently regarded as some of the poshest parts of the region.

The unveiling of this property data coincides with the government’s announcement of a new ‘mansion tax,’ officially known as the High Value Council Tax Surcharge. This tax targets properties valued at over £2 million and will be applied in addition to the existing council tax rates. Since 2020, over 26,500 homes have been sold at or above this threshold across the UK.
In London’s Westminster alone, a staggering 3,832 homes have changed hands for £2 million or more in the past five years—the highest number recorded anywhere in the country.
This map offers a compelling glance at the distribution of luxury homes across the Midlands and beyond, providing valuable insight into the region’s real estate landscape as new tax measures come into effect.
