Midlands Man Sentenced for Possession of Nearly 300 Indecent Images of Children

Aaron Michael Edwards, a 42-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent, has been sentenced to one year and eight months in prison after authorities discovered nearly 300 indecent images of children on his mobile phone. The sentencing took place today, February 19, at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

In April of the previous year, Staffordshire Police executed a search warrant at Edwards’ residence in Stoke-on-Trent, leading to his arrest. During the investigation, officers seized Edwards’ phone and uncovered 291 category A images depicting child exploitation material.

Edwards admitted to making indecent photographs and pseudo-photographs of a child, charges which he later acknowledged in court following an intensive police investigation.

Detective Constable Anna Walklett, from the Staffordshire child exploitation team, stated: “Edwards initially admitted the phone was his but denied possessing indecent images of children. Through diligent efforts, we collected sufficient evidence that resulted in his guilty plea. We remain resolute in combating child sexual offenses throughout Staffordshire and will continue to take firm action against offenders.”

The successful prosecution underscores the ongoing commitment of law enforcement to protecting children and holding perpetrators accountable.
