Paulina Gammon, a 21-year-old mother of two and content creator from the East Midlands, recently tied the knot in a stunning wedding that cost just £1,800. Engaged in May 2025, Paulina was determined to create a special day filled with loved ones while keeping expenses low.
In an exclusive interview with Abbott Lyon, Paulina revealed how she planned her wedding in just three months, celebrating with over 50 friends and family members without overspending. Her approach was simple: focus on the essentials and do as much as possible herself.
Paulina describes her wedding style as “simple and budget-friendly.” She managed to purchase her entire bridal outfit—including dress, shoes, and bag—for only £45. Her husband’s suit came from Charlie Brown for £200. The registry office fee was £180, and the evening function room, which accommodated all the guests, cost just £200. The couple spent £800 on their wedding rings, which Paulina says was the most worthwhile expense, as “this is the thing that’s staying with you for the rest of your life.”

Additional costs included about £150 for décor and bar at the evening venue and £300 for a three-course meal at the Cosy Club between the ceremony and reception. To keep costs down, Paulina did her own hair and makeup, enlisted family and friends to decorate, and sourced affordable decorations from online retailers like SHEIN, Temu, and AliExpress. Friends helped create party activities and even managed a snack bar, contributing to the joyful atmosphere.
Despite the challenge of planning a wedding quickly and during a busy season, Paulina and her husband found a venue that met their needs and budget. “Most venues were expensive or fully booked, but we found a function room for £200 that had a bar and space for over 50 guests,” she said.
Paulina emphasizes that a wedding doesn’t have to be lavish or costly. Her advice? “Invite people who truly care about you and make the day special. Ask family for help, and don’t hesitate to do things yourself.” She concludes, “Weddings can absolutely be done on a budget, and you don’t need a lot of money to have a beautiful, memorable day.”
