Midlands Braces for 2.7cm Snowfall with Exact Arrival Time Announced

Weather forecasts indicate a significant snowfall is on its way to parts of the Midlands this week. On Thursday, February 5, a band of snow is expected to sweep across sections of central and northern England, including parts of the Midlands region.

According to WX Charts, a wide swath of snow stretching approximately 44 miles from Staffordshire up to West Yorkshire will bring up to 2.7 cm (roughly 1 inch) of snow, particularly impacting the north-eastern part of Staffordshire. This snowfall is anticipated around 3pm on Friday, adding a wintery blanket to areas such as the Staffordshire Moorlands.

Despite this, Birmingham, the Black Country, and South Staffordshire are predicted to avoid snowfall, though they may experience rain showers. For example, Birmingham is expected to see around 3.5mm of rain starting at 6pm on Saturday, February 6.

Looking at the broader forecast, Wednesday evening’s outlook predicts increasing cloud cover with ongoing rain across Scotland and hill snow in the east. A new band of rain is anticipated to move northward through the night, accompanied by strengthening winds. Temperatures are expected to remain largely frost-free.

By Thursday, rain will continue to move northward, becoming heavier in certain areas, with possible snow in north Wales, the Pennines, and the Scottish mountains. Winds are expected to be strong in the northern regions, with temperatures staying around average for this time of year.
