After months of uncertainty, The Black Horse in Brierley Hill, Midland, has once again reopened under new management, igniting a fiery response from the pub’s landlord directed at persistent online critics.
Previously closed in April under its former management, The Black Horse welcomed new owner Mitchell Gatsby in July. Despite hopes for a fresh start, the pub shuttered again on November 30. However, Mr. Gatsby surprised many by reopening the venue for a second time just last weekend.
The pub’s decision to remain open has attracted a wave of negativity from what The Black Horse refers to as “keyboard warriors.” In a bold and candid post on Facebook, the pub addressed the harsh online backlash head-on.

The statement read: “Some folks clearly wake up every morning desperate for something to moan about, and The Black Horse reopening has become your full-time hobby. Imagine being so bitter you spend your day predicting failure for a place you don’t even support. Tragic.
“Let’s be clear: we love this pub. Our staff love this pub. And we’re putting more into it than any keyboard warrior ever will.
“If you’re here to post vile comments, talk s**t, or drag down people who are actually trying to build something? You will be blocked. You will be removed. End of.
“This page is for people who want to see the place thrive, not for those who can’t stand the thought of someone else succeeding.
“The Black Horse will last just fine. Your negativity, on the other hand, won’t. Go and get l**d.”
This unapologetic message underscores the passion and resilience behind the pub’s revival efforts while drawing a firm line against negativity and online hostility.
