Met Office Reveals UK Regions Expecting Snow in February: Full Forecast

The Met Office has identified the UK regions forecasted to see snowfall in February, issuing two detailed weather outlooks covering the period from Monday, February 2, through Wednesday, February 11.

Initially, the weather will remain largely unsettled, mirroring current conditions, with showers or longer spells of rain and occasional strong winds affecting many parts of the UK. However, a subtle shift is expected in the latter half of this period as winds change direction, favoring easterly or northeasterly flows, which typically bring colder air.

Snow and colder temperatures are most likely to impact northern areas during this time. The Met Office advises that while southern regions will continue to experience unsettled weather, including rain and wind, there is an increasing chance of snow showers, especially in northern locales. The brisk winds will further intensify the chill across much of the country.

From February 12 onwards, the forecast suggests a probable north-south divide in weather patterns. Low pressure is expected to dominate the south, bringing wetter and windier conditions, while high pressure may settle over northern areas, resulting in drier and colder weather. The jet stream is predicted to sink further south than usual, increasing the likelihood of wet conditions down south and drier spells in the northwest.

Cold air penetrating from the north is expected to combine with precipitation from the southwest at times, raising the risk of wintry hazards—especially snow and icy conditions—across many parts of the UK. These colder spells may occasionally extend to more southern areas during this period, particularly in the early days.

Residents are advised to remain prepared for fluctuating and potentially severe winter weather throughout February, with particular vigilance in northern and central regions prone to snow and icy conditions.
