Since opening its doors in 1989, the store has become a staple for shoppers in Brierley Hill, and now it’s stepping up its presence by moving into a much larger unit previously occupied by HMV.
This week, Superdrug shared the exciting news on social media, showcasing its spacious new location right next door to the original store. But the growth doesn’t stop there — the retailer announced it will eventually take over its former unit as well, doubling its footprint at the centre.
On TikTok, Merry Hill Superdrug posted, “Don’t miss us, we’re only next door!” while teasing plans for the empty unit with a promise: “We will be in both units eventually! Keep your eye out, we’re going to get EVEN BIGGER.”

When shoppers inquired about what to expect from the upcoming expansion, Superdrug revealed plans for a nurses clinic, an updated beauty studio, a ‘Beauty Playground’ area, and significantly more space. The Beauty Playground concept offers customers an interactive experience where they can try a wider range of cosmetic brands and products in a dedicated, immersive environment.
This expansion reflects Superdrug’s confidence in Merry Hill as a key retail location. A spokesperson recently said, “We’re thrilled that Superdrug has chosen to significantly increase its current store at Merry Hill. Since 1989, the brand has remained a firm favourite with our visitors.”
Once fully expanded, the Superdrug store will span an impressive 16,000 square feet, making it one of the largest in the UK. Shoppers can look forward to an even greater selection of beauty and wellbeing products, alongside services like ear piercing, manicures, and eyebrow threading.
