Masked Singer Winner Keisha Buchanan: From Car Crash to Sugababes Reunion

Keisha Buchanan captivated fans this weekend as she was crowned the winner of The Masked Singer 2026 on ITV. Under the guise of “Moth,” she dazzled audiences with a stunning rendition of Rihanna’s “Only Girl (In the World),” besting fellow finalists Conkers and Toastie. The runners-up were revealed as This Morning presenter Ben Shephard and former EastEnders actress Mica Paris.

Following her triumphant reveal, Keisha expressed her joy and gratitude. “I’ve been a fan of the show for many years, and I absolutely loved it,” she shared. “I really started to embrace Moth! I haven’t done many things by myself, so this was so necessary to bring me out of my shell. Maya Jama guessed it was me early on, so I was excited to see everyone’s reactions when they disagreed!”

Keisha’s musical journey began with the Sugababes in 1998 alongside Siobhan Donaghy and Mutya Buena. Despite early success, the group underwent several lineup changes amid reported tensions. Siobhan left in 2001, citing feelings of bullying by Keisha—a claim Keisha has denied, though they have since reconciled. Mutya departed in 2005 due to personal struggles, followed by Keisha herself being replaced in 2009 while still part of the band, a move that deeply affected her emotionally and financially.

The Sugababes disbanded in 2011 but joyfully reunited in 2013 when the original trio reformed, eventually reclaiming their name in 2022 and performing at high-profile events such as Glastonbury. Keisha shared that the reunion felt right after resolving past differences and adjusting their work-life balance.

In 2024, Keisha bravely revealed she survived a terrifying car accident a year prior, losing consciousness at the wheel. Posting a picture from the crash scene, she wrote, “Thank you Jesus for my life. Thankful for another year… will speak more on the cause behind the blackout another time. Just happy to be here.”

On a lighter note, Keisha previously expressed her candid feelings toward King Charles during a 2018 social media post, reflecting on a 2006 encounter with the future monarch. She humorously highlighted her polite yet pointed side-eye, referencing thoughts of Princess Diana.

Keisha has also opened up about the grueling schedules faced by the Sugababes in the 1990s, including minimal rest and rare family time. Speaking on the Smallzy’s Surgery podcast, she explained how the group now enjoys more autonomy, balancing personal commitments like motherhood with their careers, creating a healthier, happier working environment.

Keisha Buchanan’s journey—from pop stardom through adversity to her triumphant Masked Singer win and renewed camaraderie with her bandmates—continues to inspire fans worldwide.
