A man was left bloodied following a violent confrontation in Dudley town centre on Monday morning. Emergency services were dispatched around 11:30 a.m. after reports of a group of people fighting at Market Place.
Councillor Caroline Reid, who happened to be nearby, described the incident as a conflict stemming from “busking wars.” According to the St James’s ward representative, tensions escalated into a physical fight over the location of performance spots.
The dispute reportedly involved a group preaching religious messages and a man selling CDs while playing music. Photographs taken at the scene by Councillor Reid depicted a man with a split lip and significant facial injuries, underscoring the severity of the altercation.

“I was shocked to witness such violence in the heart of Dudley, right by the market place,” Cllr Reid stated, expressing concern about the incident disrupting the community atmosphere.
West Midlands Police confirmed receiving the report and are conducting investigations to determine the full circumstances of the fight. They have urged anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information to come forward.
