Man Charged with Manslaughter in Death of Three-Month-Old Baby in Stafford

A 38-year-old man from Stafford has appeared in court charged with the manslaughter of a three-month-old baby boy who died in October 2023. The infant was taken to hospital on October 12 but sadly passed away eight days later, on October 20.

Gareth Stark stands accused not only of manslaughter but also of assault, ill-treatment, neglect, or abandonment of a child, resulting in unnecessary suffering. Following his court appearance on December 11 at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre, Stark was remanded into custody.

His next hearing is scheduled for January 9, 2026, at Stafford Crown Court. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police stated, “We were called on October 12 after reports that a three-month-old baby was taken to hospital. Tragically, the child died on October 20. Gareth Stark has been charged with manslaughter and related offenses. He appeared at court today and remains in custody pending his next appearance.”
