A 23-year-old man from Birmingham, Kyle Fradley, has been sentenced to a 12-month community order after kicking a police officer in the groin and threatening to “snap your puny arms off” during an incident in a supermarket car park.
The incident occurred on 15 July in Castle Vale, where West Midlands Police officers responded to a call regarding Fradley, who was reported wanted in connection with unrelated matters. According to the prosecution, the confrontation began following a dispute with Fradley’s partner over his mobile phone.
During the encounter, Fradley verbally threatened one of the officers and physically assaulted him by kicking him in the groin. The officer was able to restrain Fradley, taking him to the ground. Fradley later claimed his actions were in self-defence.

He was charged with assaulting a constable in the execution of his duty and pleaded guilty at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on 26 August.
Defence counsel Sarah Rust stated that the injury sustained by the officer was not severe and that her client recognised the error of his actions.
Tribunal Judge Claire Brocklebank handed down the community order and also ordered Fradley to pay costs amounting to £334.
This case highlights the challenges faced by law enforcement officers in maintaining public safety and the consequences of assaulting officers during their duty.
