Man Arrested After Car Plows Into Bus Stop Crowd in Giessen, Germany, Injuring Three

A dramatic incident unfolded in Giessen, Germany, when a 32-year-old man drove his vehicle into a crowd waiting at a bus stop, resulting in injuries to three individuals. The driver, who is originally from Azerbaijan, was arrested at the scene after the car first collided with two other vehicles.

According to police reports, the accident happened around 4:30 pm near St John’s Church. The man was driving an Audi along Westanlage toward Südanlage when he struck two cars at the traffic light intersection with Frankfurter Straße. Instead of stopping, he continued his path along Südanlage to Goethestraße before crashing into pedestrians at the bus stop.

Among the three injured, one person sustained serious injuries and is receiving medical attention. After the crash, the driver proceeded to Johannesstraße, where he eventually stopped and was apprehended by law enforcement.

Police stated: “Around 4:30 pm, the driver of an Audi crashed into a bus stop, injuring three people, one of whom sustained serious injuries. The 32-year-old driver, a resident of Giessen originally from Azerbaijan, was arrested on-site.” The investigation is ongoing as officers seek to understand the full circumstances surrounding the crash.
