Gopal’s Corner, a well-loved Malaysian restaurant chain, is set to open its first venue outside London in Birmingham. Renowned for its vibrant open kitchen counters where chefs dynamically spin, flip, and cook signature Malaysian street food, the chain has earned a dedicated following across the capital.
With six locations primarily situated in London market halls, Gopal’s Corner will bring its unique culinary experience to the Bullring in Birmingham, creating a buzz among local food enthusiasts.
Founder Sugen Gopal said, “Opening our first site outside London marks an exciting milestone for Gopal’s Corner. Birmingham felt like the natural next step for us. We’re eager to introduce the rich flavours of Malaysian Tamil cuisine to this diverse city and contribute to its cultural tapestry.”

Customers can look forward to enjoying signature dishes such as the flaky flatbread Roti Canai, aromatic Dosas rice crepes, and the beloved Teh Tarik milk tea.
Launched in 2018 at Market Halls' London Victoria food hall, Gopal’s Corner builds on the popularity of its sister brand, Roti King. The quick-service restaurant is also celebrated for Malaysian Tamil specialties including Mee Goreng Mamak and Spinach and Cheese Murtabek.
The new Birmingham outlet is scheduled to open on 12 October, offering Brummies a fresh taste of authentic Malaysian street food.
The announcement has been met with excitement on social media, with one admirer exclaiming, “We are super-excited and simply can’t wait to experience you in our hometown.” Another commented, “Bringing curry to Birmingham is a bold move.
