Major Update on Heathrow Pepper Spray Assault: 21 Injured Including Toddler

The Metropolitan Police have provided a significant update regarding the shocking pepper spray incident at Heathrow Airport earlier today.

Officers were called to the airport shortly after 8 a.m. following reports that multiple individuals had been attacked with a substance believed to be pepper spray.

A 31-year-old man was arrested at the scene and remains in police custody this evening.

Authorities confirmed that 21 people were affected by the attack, including a three-year-old girl who received immediate treatment at the location.

Five victims required hospital care, but fortunately, their injuries are not considered life-threatening or causing long-term harm.

Investigations reveal that the incident began when a group of four men robbed a woman of her suitcase inside a car park lift at Terminal 3. During the robbery, the suspects sprayed the substance, impacting those inside the lift and nearby bystanders.

Metropolitan Police Commander Peter Stevens said, “Our team has swiftly reviewed CCTV footage and spoken with witnesses. It appears that a woman was robbed of her suitcase by four men who sprayed what we believe to be pepper spray inside the car park lift. This affected everyone in and around the lift area.”

He emphasized that the incident is believed to be isolated, with those involved known to each other. Stevens added, “We understand the concern this has caused and commend the swift response of emergency services and Heathrow staff.”
