Lloyds Bank has announced the discontinuation of cheque deposits at Post Office locations, a move affecting millions of customers who rely on this service. While customers can still withdraw and deposit cash at Post Office branches and banking hubs, cheque deposits will no longer be accepted there.
Instead, Lloyds encourages customers to use its mobile app to deposit cheques by taking a photo, offering a faster and more convenient method. The app supports deposits of up to £10,000 per cheque, with a daily maximum of £10,000. Typically, funds are available the next working day after mobile deposit, with the app alerting users if a cheque cannot be processed digitally.
For those preferring a traditional route, Lloyds has introduced a freepost cheque-by-post service. Customers can mail their cheques—preferably using tracked post for security—to:

Funds received by post are usually credited within two working days of receipt.
A Lloyds spokesperson stated, “Most customers use our app as the easiest way to pay in a cheque, by taking a photo on their phone and letting us take care of the rest. Very few customers chose to deposit cheques at the Post Office, which is why we’ve introduced the freepost cheque service for those who need it.”
Customers who prefer in-person banking still have access to a variety of services at local branches and banking hubs to manage their accounts.
