Lichfield Family-Run Cocktail Bar ‘Devastated’ After Fatal Assault

Staff at Ricco & Loren, a popular family-run cocktail and wine bar on Market Street in Lichfield, are mourning after a violent assault left one man dead and another injured. The distressing incident occurred late on Sunday, May 24, when Staffordshire Police were called to the scene following reports that two men had been punched.

Tragically, one of the victims, who sustained serious injuries, passed away in hospital on Tuesday afternoon, May 26. The second man was also taken to hospital but has since been discharged.

Billy Allison, a 36-year-old man from Solihull, was arrested in the early hours of Monday, May 26. He has been charged with murder and Section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent. He is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Wednesday, May 27.

In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Ricco & Loren spoke of their sorrow and extended their support to all those affected by the incident. “As a small local family business, we are devastated by the events of the last few days,” they said. “We have been working closely with the police and will continue to do so during this incredibly sad and difficult time. We are sending all our love, thoughts, and best wishes to everyone affected. The bar will be closed for a few days to allow our staff time to come to terms with this tragic event.”

Staffordshire Police confirmed their ongoing investigation and urged anyone with information to come forward by contacting their online portal or Crimestoppers anonymously.
