Leamington Spa Named Best Place to Live in the Midlands

A picturesque Warwickshire town has been recognised as the best place to live in the Midlands, according to residents who proudly call it home.

Leamington Spa, located approximately 45 minutes from Birmingham, topped a nationwide survey that gauged local happiness and satisfaction levels. The study, conducted by Rightmove, sought to understand how residents feel about living in their towns and cities across the country.

The findings reveal that people living in Leamington Spa report some of the highest levels of contentment in the region. This aligns with the town’s popularity among families seeking a peaceful lifestyle away from the hustle and bustle of Birmingham, while retaining convenient access to its employment opportunities, shopping centres and nightlife.

Ranked 12th happiest place in the entire UK, Leamington Spa is closely followed by Lichfield, another leafy and sought-after commuter town, which occupies the 13th spot. Both towns are renowned for their attractive green spaces, well-maintained high streets, and plentiful leisure activities, including a variety of restaurants and pubs.

The survey highlights that these affluent areas tend to offer residents better standards of living and fewer daily concerns, contributing to overall wellbeing and satisfaction.

Conversely, the study showed that more urban and industrial towns in the Midlands, particularly in the Black Country, face greater challenges. Walsall was ranked as the fifth unhappiest place in the UK, placing 216th out of 220 towns surveyed. Birmingham itself was not far behind, securing the 209th position.

This contrast emphasises how environment, amenities and local economy can significantly influence residents' quality of life and happiness in the Midlands.
