Knifeman Sentenced to Over Five Years for Fatal Stabbing of Beloved Father

Kai Sainz-Stafford has been sentenced to five years and two months in prison after fatally stabbing Sam Siviter, a much-loved father, in Shrewsbury on the night of May 1. The fatal incident occurred after Mr. Siviter, 35, confronted Sainz-Stafford, 24, at his ex-partner’s residence where the attacker had hidden a knife inside a sofa.

Following a heated argument, Sainz-Stafford stabbed Mr. Siviter three times. Despite fleeing the scene, the victim managed to escape to a nearby house on Lambourn Drive, where he collapsed. Emergency services were called, but Mr. Siviter was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sainz-Stafford turned himself in the following day and admitted to manslaughter during his trial at Stafford Crown Court. Additionally, he received a consecutive 12-month sentence for unlawfully wounding related to a separate incident in September 2024.

They encouraged others to remember him as someone who inspired striving for betterment and cherishing every moment.

His father, stepmother, and friends echoed these sentiments, highlighting Sam’s nature as a loyal friend and caring individual who brought joy wherever he went. Known for his infectious energy, big smile, and warm greetings, he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Detective Chief Inspector Lee Holehouse expressed hope that the sentencing would bring some closure to the family. He emphasized the tragic consequences of knife crime, underscoring how a moment’s loss of control can irrevocably change lives and devastate loved ones.
