Kate Middleton has shared that she has become much more mindful of her alcohol consumption following her cancer diagnosis. The Princess of Wales, who underwent chemotherapy in 2024, announced she was in remission last year and revealed how her health journey has shaped her lifestyle choices.
During a recent visit with her husband, Prince William, to Fabal Beerhall in London’s Bermondsey Beer Mile—a hub for craft breweries and tap rooms—Kate was invited to sample some beer and cider. However, she politely declined, explaining to brewery owner Hannah Rhodes, “Since my diagnosis I haven’t had much alcohol. It’s something I have to be a lot more conscious of now.”
Instead, Kate opted for a soft drink and playfully acknowledged William’s enthusiasm for cider, patting his knee and saying, “But you like your cider, don’t you?” The Prince happily sampled several beers and ciders from local brews including Rhodes’ Hiver brand, which uniquely uses honey harvested from bee hives as a natural sweetener in the fermentation process.

Kate, who keeps bee hives at her Anmer Hall residence in Norfolk, may have avoided the beer, but she was intrigued by the honey. She explained, “If you take the honey off the hive in early summer it tastes very different. If you take the honey off when it’s wet it is a natural fermentation process anyway.”
William responded with a smile, joking, “She knows a lot about bees. Be careful what you say, you might be corrected.”
This candid moment highlights Kate’s thoughtful approach to her wellbeing and her continued engagement with local community ventures.
