Joe Sugg has opened up about the false rumours linking him romantically to a fellow Strictly Come Dancing contestant before his genuine relationship with dance partner Dianne Buswell took flight.
The YouTube personality and former contestant found love with Dianne during the 2018 series of the BBC dance competition. Since then, they have been inseparable and are now preparing to welcome their first child, a baby boy.
Interestingly, Joe revealed that many viewers initially believed the so-called Strictly ‘curse’ affected him and another contestant, not Dianne. Speaking on The Fellas podcast, he addressed the speculation surrounding a romance with Steps singer Faye Tozer.

Joe recalled, “She was in my series, and when I was a kid, she was my favourite in the band. I remember saying I used to fancy Faye.” He added, “They brought that up and tried to make it out like there was already a Strictly curse going on between me and Faye.”
Despite the rumours, Joe was quick to clarify that no romantic relationship existed between him and Faye Tozer.
Joe and Dianne publicly confirmed their relationship shortly after the 2018 Strictly finale, marking the start of a beloved partnership both on and off the dance floor.
Recently, Dianne Buswell shared her feelings of apprehension about motherhood. On her ‘Winning Isn’t Everything’ podcast with co-host Chris McCausland, she revealed how a friend warned her about the intense hormonal changes post-birth.
Dianne explained, “Someone told me yesterday, ‘I forgot to tell you about this.’ On day four after you’ve had the baby, apparently your hormones drop from like a million to literally zero.” She continued, “They said, ‘Don’t be alarmed if you just wake up and just start crying on the bathroom floor, not wanting to move, feeling like you can’t do anything.’”
She added, “Oh gosh, that bit’s going to be scary, isn’t it? Just the hormones.” Their honest discussions about the realities of new parenthood resonate deeply with many expecting families.
