Jet2 Alerts Customers of Changes to Flight Document Timing Amid Fuel Concerns

Jet2 has contacted all customers with flights booked for June, July, and August, addressing concerns about potential summer holiday disruptions linked to jet fuel shortages and supply chain challenges. The airline, operating from Birmingham Airport (BHX), sent emails clarifying updates to holiday documentation timing.

In the message, Jet2 informed passengers: “Following a change to when we send out the documents for your holiday, you’ll now receive your documents 14 days before departure, rather than 28 days as stated on your original booking confirmation. You don’t need to contact us or take any action – you’ll receive your documents 14 days before you travel. Have a lovely holiday!”

This communication follows recent reports highlighting rising fuel costs and possible shortages amid ongoing geopolitical conflicts in the Middle East.

Travel industry expert Amanda Matthews, co-owner of Designer Travel, shared insights via social media, noting that among numerous suppliers and airlines, only two – Air Mauritius and Eva Air – have introduced modest fuel surcharges. She emphasized that her agency offers customers the option to prepay fully to avoid these fees.

Matthews also spotlighted Jet2holidays' new “Lock in your prices” campaign, urging travelers to book now to secure better rates driven by current demand rather than fuel concerns. She cautioned that holiday prices often surge when geopolitical tensions ease and demand rebounds.

She advised customers to purchase full package holidays through professional travel agents to benefit from the protections of Package Travel Regulations. Agents provide essential support, guidance, and assistance, including handling refunds if cancellations occur for any reason by the tour operator.
