Jeremy Clarkson Faces Legal Claim After Grandmother’s Fall at Farmer’s Dog Pub

Jeremy Clarkson, the well-known former Top Gear presenter and star of Amazon’s Clarkson’s Farm, is facing legal action following an incident at one of his business ventures. A 68-year-old grandmother, Elizabeth Palmby, has filed a claim after she reportedly slipped and fell in the car park of Clarkson’s Farmer’s Dog pub in Oxfordshire, sustaining injuries to her hand and ribs.

Ms. Palmby, who traveled from Scunthorpe with her husband last November, had been visiting both the Diddly Squat farm shop and the adjacent pub. She described the car park as a muddy field with unsecured metal sheets laid out as a makeshift walkway. According to her, the sheets moved underfoot, leading to her fall. “It happened in slow motion,” she said, “I caught my foot on one of the upturned sheets and my feet went from under me.”

After the fall, Ms. Palmby noticed bleeding and had to be taken to Whitney Community Hospital, where doctors treated a severe hand wound caused by a shard of metal. She underwent surgery to close the gash, and X-rays later revealed broken ribs. Returning to the site, she claims no safety improvements or warning signs about the hazardous surface were in place despite the danger.

Although planning permission has been granted for a permanent car park surface, installation has been delayed due to drainage requirements. Ms. Palmby has now initiated legal proceedings to seek compensation for her injuries.

The Farmer’s Dog pub, which opened in August 2024, initially struggled with numerous operational challenges. Clarkson himself recounted the rocky opening days on his show, highlighting the overwhelming crowds, lack of running water, and staff difficulties. Contractors reportedly quit after only 48 hours due to poor working conditions.

Despite the rocky start and unexpected costs—including hiring specialized cleaning teams—Clarkson has managed to stabilize the business, which has since gained popularity among fans.

Representatives for Jeremy Clarkson and the Farmer’s Dog pub have been contacted for comment but have not yet responded.
