Jennifer Runyon, Star of Ghostbusters and Charles in Charge, Dies at 65

Jennifer Runyon, the talented actress best remembered for her roles in the 1984 classic Ghostbusters and the first season of the sitcom Charles in Charge, has died at the age of 65. Her family shared the somber news over the weekend, expressing their grief and love in a heartfelt statement on Facebook.

“This past Friday night our beloved Jennifer passed away,” the family wrote. “It was a long and arduous journey that ended with her surrounded by her family. She will always be remembered for her love of life and her devotion to family and friends. I know from above she’s looking down on all of us with her beautiful smile. Rest in peace our Jenn.”

While the cause of her death remains undisclosed, Jennifer’s remarkable career left an indelible mark on film and television. She debuted as Nancy in the 1980 horror film To All a Goodnight before taking on the role of Sally Frame in the soap opera Another World until 1982.

In Ghostbusters, alongside stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Sigourney Weaver, Jennifer appeared in the memorable opening scene as a student participating in an ESP experiment. Around that time, she joined the cast of Charles in Charge, starring with Scott Baio and Nicole Eggert during the show’s initial episodes.

Jennifer also portrayed Cindy Brady in the holiday film A Very Brady Christmas and shared the screen with a young Natasha Lyonne in the 1990 movie A Man Called Sarge. Her television credits included guest roles on popular series such as Murder, She Wrote, Magnum P.I., and Beverly Hills, 90210, showcasing her versatility across genres.

Her final acting role was Nurse Zarkov in the 2017 comedy horror Bloodsucka Jones vs. The Creeping Death. She also appeared in the 2019 documentary Cleanin' Up the Town: Remembering Ghostbusters, reflecting on one of her most cherished roles.

Jennifer Runyon leaves behind a legacy of memorable performances and a lasting influence on fans and colleagues alike.
