Amy Hobson, a mother claiming thousands in Universal Credit from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), has sparked fury after posting a TikTok video where she openly boasted about using taxpayers’ money for nights out drinking.
In the video, Amy cheerfully declared, “It’s Friday, b*****s, and never guess what Friday means? I’m going out and I’m getting p****d!” She went on to reveal, “It’s also pay day – benefit day again – so I’m hitting the town tonight with all your hard-earned taxpayers’ money.”
Thanking the public, she added, “I’m going to have a shot and raise my glass to all of you for the money you work so hard to earn while I sit at home doing absolutely nothing.”

Amy described her plans to drop her children at school before heading out to enjoy her evening, unapologetically concluding, “So yeah, I’m taking the kids to school, spending some time with those at home, and then going out on the p**s because it’s Friday and I can!”
Her candid approach quickly drew backlash. One viewer responded, “Reported to DWP,” while another called her “embarrassing.” Comments ranged from “Absolutely gross, exactly what’s wrong with the UK,” to “You’re a disgrace,” highlighting the public’s strong disapproval.
Despite the criticism, Amy identified herself as “just a mum trying to get by in life,” and emphasized that Universal Credit has allowed her to live “a nice, stable, comfortable life.” Her video has amassed over 38,000 views, and she revealed she once received as much as £4,099 in a single month.
