After leaving the “I’m A Celebrity” jungle, musician Aitch has finally addressed the swirling rumours about a potential romance with fellow contestant Shona McGarty. The 25-year-old star clarified that their connection was purely based on shared interests in music and friendship, dismissing any romantic involvement.
“I haven’t watched the show, so I don’t really know what’s been said about us,” Aitch explained. “But it was nothing like that.”
Describing their bond, Aitch said, “Shona and I are cut from the same cloth with the same sense of humour.” He elaborated that, with Shona aiming to launch her music career, and his own background in music, they naturally connected over related conversations. “There’s really only Martin and me that she could talk to about certain things. Since I’m closer to her age, I guess people jumped to conclusions about us. But romantic? No, not at all.”

Most of their discussions centred around Shona’s singing talents. “She’s an incredible singer, and I encouraged her to pursue it without fear,” Aitch shared. He recalled how shy she was when performing in the jungle, often covering her face in embarrassment. “I told her she has nothing to be embarrassed about—everyone was amazed by her voice.”
The rumours initially sparked when Aitch admitted to co-star Angry Ginge that he had “a bit of a soft spot” for Shona, which prompted hosts Ant and Dec to speculate about a possible jungle romance. Meanwhile, Shona has recently separated from her fiancé, musician David Bracken, with reports suggesting an amicable split. David has publicly supported her jungle journey.
Aitch himself entered the jungle single, following a breakup with Lois Cottam. When Ant and Dec saw Aitch’s comments, they admitted to their surprise and expressed excitement about the possibility of romance on the show. “It’s been a while since we had a proper jungle romance. We’d love to see one,” Ant said.
However, comedian Ruby Wax once joked that Aitch wasn’t Shona’s typical type, saying, “She likes hunky, bigger men to feel feminine, so he wasn’t on her list at all.”
Ultimately, Aitch’s candidness has put the rumours to rest, highlighting the genuine friendship and mutual support between him and Shona during their time in the jungle.
