I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star Shona McGarty faced backlash and punishment after admitting to breaking strict camp rules on the ITV show.
The EastEnders actress was caught on camera using contraband butter, an item forbidden in the jungle setting, which led to her being stripped of her leadership role in the camp.
Called out by producers, Shona begged her fellow campmates, “Please don’t hate me,” before reading out a letter detailing her punishment. The message from producers stated: “Shona, there is contraband in camp. As a leader, you are responsible for ensuring the rules are upheld to maintain order.”

Faced with a choice to either step down as leader or face further consequences, Shona admitted, “I used it. I found some butter in the trunk.”
Speaking to the camera, she clarified, “I don’t know where it came from, true story. But I saw it, and my eyes lit up—I used it.”
Campmates speculated that footballer Alex Scott, previously punished for smuggling in salt, might have been involved in the butter incident. Kelly Brook expressed her frustration, saying, “She didn’t even share it! Someone else took the risk, and then she used it!”
Tensions rose as the group chanted “dethrone, dethrone, dethrone,” while Shona preemptively confirmed she had already stepped down.
Fellow contestants Haitch and Angry Ginge voiced their disappointment. Haitch declared, “I don’t want to look at her; I’m not going to talk to her for the rest of this.” Angry Ginge added, “I’m not even going to breathe in her direction.”
Following a camp vote, Ruby Wax was appointed the new leader. As an additional penalty, Shona was confined to the phone box, intensifying the consequences of her rule-breaking.
