Iceland Launches UK-First Sensor Technology Across 766 Supermarkets

Iceland has implemented a groundbreaking innovation across 766 of its supermarkets, introducing a UK-first sensor technology designed to revolutionize in-store advertising. This initiative, developed in collaboration with technology company Stratacache, integrates digital screens and sophisticated people-tracking sensors to optimize marketing performance.

The strategic partnership equips Iceland and The Food Warehouse stores with the Walkbase Millimeter Wave Sensor Solution, making them the first European supermarkets to adopt this advanced technology. This system delivers real-time analytics and content management capabilities that allow brands to better target shoppers and maximize their advertising ROI.

Adam Smith, Head of Retail Media at Iceland Foods, emphasized the company’s commitment to transparency and collaboration: “With Stratacache’s technology, we can serve our customers more effectively while working openly with brand partners to ensure marketing investments achieve measurable results. Our closed-loop attribution model provides full-funnel insights, spanning both online and in-store channels.”
