Ian Huntley, the convicted Soham killer, was violently attacked in the workshop of HMP Frankland near Durham on Thursday morning, leaving him with serious head injuries. According to Durham Constabulary, the 52-year-old prisoner was struck multiple times with a metal pole, reportedly knocking him unconscious.
Eyewitness reports reveal that the attacker shouted a three-word boast, “I’ve done it, I’ve done it,” immediately following the assault. Sources indicate Huntley was hit six times and left lying in a pool of blood before receiving medical attention.
Durham Constabulary confirmed that Huntley was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition. Police forensic teams have been investigating the scene, gathering evidence throughout the day. A male inmate, believed to be in his mid-40s, has been identified as the suspect but has not yet been arrested. He remains in custody within the prison.

Ian Huntley is serving a life sentence with a minimum term of 40 years for the 2002 murders of 10-year-olds Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in Soham, Cambridgeshire. This recent attack is the latest in a series of attempts on his life, and he has been kept under close supervision to prevent further incidents.
Previously, in 2010, Huntley was slashed across the neck with a makeshift weapon, sustaining a severe wound that required extensive medical treatment. That attacker described Huntley as a notorious child killer, a sentiment that persists both inside prison walls and beyond.
