With Christmas fast approaching, HMP Birmingham has unveiled its special Christmas Day meal menu, offering a variety of festive options to the prison’s 1,400-plus inmates. The Category B prison in Winson Green aims to provide a comforting and inclusive holiday dining experience for all prisoners.
Following a Freedom of Information request filed by BirminghamLive, the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) disclosed the full Christmas lunch menu. Prisoners will have the choice among five distinct main course options designed to cater to different dietary needs and preferences, including a traditional Christmas meal, a vegan alternative, and a halal option.
The festive dinner comprises classic holiday favorites such as turkey with all the trimmings, complemented by traditional sides including roast potatoes, Brussel sprouts, stuffing, and cranberry sauce gravy. For dessert, prisoners can select between a traditional British Christmas pudding served with custard or a piece of fresh fruit.
