The Talbot, a Grade II listed pub in Kempsey, has applied to Malvern Hills District Council for permission to rebuild a collapsed wall in its beer garden. The brick wall suffered structural damage due to encroaching ivy and decay from an old tree stump, ultimately leading to its collapse.
In the submitted plans, the pub proposes reconstructing the wall using reclaimed bricks to maintain the building’s historic character. The wall’s deterioration posed a safety risk to both patrons and nearby residents, prompting urgent restoration.
The application highlights that the restoration will enhance public safety by improving privacy and security for the pub and neighboring properties. While the repair work is underway, the garden area will be cordoned off to prevent health and safety hazards.
