It’s a common joke online that falling in love with Marks and Spencer clothing is a sign you’re getting older. However, many appreciate that M&S has long offered a stylish and dependable range of garments, though their prices can put a full wardrobe out of reach for many younger shoppers.
That’s why discovering brand-new M&S items at half price felt like a stroke of luck. On a quiet street in the picturesque town of Bridgnorth, Shropshire, an unassuming shop called Tara revealed just that.
Expecting quirky, independent labels upon entering Tara on Whitburn Street-just off the main shopping row-the first item to catch my eye was a Ted Baker t-shirt priced at only £15.

Curious, I browsed further through the extensive selection of clothing until I found several Marks and Spencer long-sleeved tops near the till, marked down to just £6. Nearby, an adorable short-sleeved jumper retained its original £33 price tag but was on offer for only £16.
Although some labels inside the shop were deliberately obscured, it was often still possible to identify the garments’ original brands. While it may be difficult to assemble an entire wardrobe exclusively from Torr’s stock, picking up staple pieces at half their original price is a definite bargain.
The items appear to be old stock that didn’t sell through to regular M&S customers. Yet one shopper’s surplus becomes another’s gain-in this instance, a charming autumnal top.
