A tragic discovery was made after a missing woman was found dead on a beach just days following her disappearance. Candice Watts, a 40-year-old from Horncastle, was reported missing shortly before Christmas, sparking a widespread search and missing person’s appeal.
Candice was last seen on December 22, 2025, according to Lincolnshire Live. Sadly, her body was found on South Parade Beach around 8 a.m. on December 30 by a police officer.
An inquest into her death was opened on January 20 by Senior Coroner Paul Smith from Greater Lincolnshire. During the hearing, he revealed that a post-mortem examination had been completed but showed no injuries that could explain the cause of death.

While there were potential indicators consistent with drowning, toxicology results are still pending, leaving the exact cause of death undetermined at this time.
The court was informed that Candice’s body was positively identified by a police officer who recognized her from the missing person reports and confirmed her identity with a photograph.
The inquest was adjourned until July 1 to allow further investigations to take place.
