He explained, “This case remains one of the most devastating we’ve handled. Shortly after receiving a £200,000 inheritance, my client and her new partner set up a business together, depositing the entire sum into a joint account.
“Just days later, she returned from work to find her partner gone without a trace. Checking their joint account, she discovered it had been completely emptied.
“Further investigation confirmed he fled Heathrow Airport on a flight to the Middle East. Remarkably, he hadn’t lived in the UK for a full year beforehand. He must have thought he hit the jackpot.”
