Halifax has provided important information for customers awaiting their replacement Visa debit cards. A customer recently reached out on social media, asking when their new card would arrive ahead of their current one expiring at the end of June. In response, Halifax explained that replacement cards are typically sent out in advance and should arrive within five working days. However, sometimes the delivery may be closer to the expiry date, but customers should receive their new card before the old one expires.
Regarding activation, Halifax confirmed that customers need to activate their new card before using contactless payments. The activation process requires making a Chip and PIN transaction, which involves using a PIN in-store or at an ATM to enable the contactless feature.
For customers with damaged or malfunctioning cards, replacements can be ordered easily via the Halifax mobile app or online banking, with delivery expected within five working days after ordering. Customers may also phone Halifax’s customer service to request a replacement card: debit cards can be ordered by calling 0330 912 6218, and credit cards by calling 0345 944 4555. These lines operate daily from 8 am to 6 pm but are closed on bank holidays. Those who have lost or had their card stolen should call 0800 015 1515 immediately for assistance.
