Gracechurch Shopping Centre in Sutton Coldfield has provided reassurance to shoppers that its Post Office is operating as normal today, despite the announcement that TG Jones, which houses the Post Office, is closing.
A message posted on the centre’s official Instagram account stated: “We would like to reassure our customers that our Post Office at Gracechurch Shopping Centre remains open and is operating as usual.” It also urged people to rely only on official Gracechurch channels for information and promised to share updates as soon as they become available.
TG Jones, one of 150 stores set to close, confirmed that both its Sutton Coldfield and Tamworth branches will shut as part of a plan to secure the long-term future of the company. A company spokesman acknowledged the impact on staff, customers, and local communities, saying: “Our priority now is on supporting those affected colleagues while continuing to serve our customers until the store closes.”

Meanwhile, a Post Office spokeswoman commented on the challenges faced by high street retailers, including TG Jones. She explained that the restructuring plan for TG Jones was approved by the High Court on 1 July and that the associated Ventura Park Post Office will close on 30 September. This closure coincides with the store’s shutdown.
The spokeswoman added that the Sutton Coldfield Post Office is expected to close in early 2027, with the exact date still being finalised. The Post Office is reviewing expressions of interest for potential new sites and aims to open a replacement branch as soon as possible, though this process may take around six months.
In the meantime, residents can access alternative Post Office branches nearby. Options in Tamworth include Fazeley and Bolehall, while Sutton Coldfield alternatives are Reddicap Heath, Whitehouse Common, Boldmere and Falcon Lodge.
