Standing an impressive 25 feet tall, this larger-than-life Santa Claus might be too big to fit down any chimney, but he’s certainly spreading plenty of Christmas cheer in Kingstanding. Gemma Webb, a mum of four, has installed a massive inflatable Father Christmas on the front of her home on College Road, creating a festive landmark sure to catch anyone’s eye.
Initially planning to decorate with just twinkling lights, Gemma’s idea quickly grew when she was gifted the giant Santa. After a humorous incident where the inflatable nearly blew onto the nearby dual carriageway, the family secured it firmly to the house. Now, with his bright red and white hat brushing the roofline, this Santa waves whenever the wind picks up, delighting schoolchildren and prompting many passers-by to stop for selfies.
Gemma explains, “One of my friends put up a Halloween and Christmas display nearby, and we ended up with this Santa from her. When we first inflated him, he was about the size of a bin bag, but once blown up, he almost took off! We had to chase him over the garden wall and along College Road. Now, we use car straps to keep him safely attached to the wall.”

The waving motion comes courtesy of the wind, causing Santa’s arms to move gently back and forth. Initially, the inflatable’s arm even knocked on the window, but adjustments have since made him stable and secure. Illuminated softly by a strip of lights, the giant Santa inflates and deflates in minutes, which helps manage windy days when he can lean forward before being reinflated.
Gemma shares the joy the Santa brings: “People shout out ‘he’s a big one’ as they drive past, kids squeal ‘Santa!’ and lots of people stop to take photos. Most importantly, it keeps the magic and joy of Christmas alive for my children. My youngest is still believing in Santa, and it’s wonderful for all of us adults too.”
This towering festive decoration has become a beloved symbol in the neighbourhood—spreading smiles and holiday spirit to everyone who passes by.
