A fundraising campaign launched to support the family of an ex-serviceman tragically found dead on Cannock Chase has raised over £8,500.
The GoFundMe page, created after Alex, a devoted father of two, was discovered deceased on Friday, 28 August, has now reached a total of £8,675. Organisers from ChaseTV have confirmed that the funds will be handed over to Alex’s family.
Alex, aged 33, was found six days after being reported missing. The fundraising effort has far exceeded its original target of £2,000, highlighting the community’s generous response.

Speaking through the fundraiser page, the organisers said: “Following the heartbreaking loss of Alex, this fundraiser has been organised by ChaseTV for the family, with their agreement, after many people kindly asked how they could contribute.
“Alex was much more than the circumstances in which we lost him. He was a much-loved father to his two children, a son, brother, partner, friend, and Armed Forces veteran. His family meant the world to him.
“Known for his humour, kindness, and willingness to help, Alex had previously volunteered his time abroad, assisting those affected by conflict to find safety. It was simply the kind of person he was – always ready to help anyone in need.”
A wide-scale search operation involving Staffordshire Police, search-and-rescue teams, and volunteers was undertaken before Alex was found.
In a statement, his family expressed their gratitude for the “incredible support” from volunteers, adding: “We will always be thankful for everything they did for Alex and our family. Having experienced firsthand the vital role these volunteer teams play, we encourage people to continue supporting search and rescue organisations and the invaluable work they do in their communities.”
