This weekend, The Fort Shopping Park in Erdington is hosting free mobile cervical health screenings, courtesy of Birmingham SmartCare and NHS Birmingham & Solihull. If your cervical screening is due or overdue, you can simply drop by between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 23—no appointment necessary.
Cervical screening, formerly known as a smear test, is an important health check that helps detect changes in the cervix and prevent cervical cancer. The NHS invites all women aged 25 to 64 to participate in cervical screening every five years. Anyone with a cervix is encouraged to attend.
The screening van will be parked in the bays near the florist at The Fort, where free parking is available. The friendly team will be on hand to support you throughout the process, and you’re welcome to bring a friend for comfort and reassurance. Support is also offered in multiple languages to ensure everyone feels at ease.
