Former Teacher Sentenced to Three Years for Historic Sexual Abuse

David Wilkinson, a former teacher from Kidderminster, has been sentenced to three years in prison for historic sexual offences. The 77-year-old, residing in Vinsac, Le Vigeant, France, was found guilty in September of three counts of indecent assault on a girl under 16. These offences occurred during his time teaching at Wolverley Secondary School in the 1980s.

The sentencing occurred on Wednesday, November 5, at Worcester Crown Court. Wilkinson received an 18-month sentence for each of two counts to be served consecutively, with an additional 18 months to run concurrently for the third count.

Detective Constable Nasri of the North Worcestershire CID expressed satisfaction with the custodial sentence, emphasizing the importance of listening to victims. “We are pleased to have secured this sentence for an offender who abused his position during his employment as a schoolteacher,” he said. DC Nasri also commended the victim’s bravery and resilience in coming forward after many years.
