Former Birmingham Youth Offending Centre in Northfield on Sale from £250,000

A rare opportunity has arisen in Birmingham to purchase a former youth offending facility located in Northfield. The Halescroft Youth Offending Centre, which closed in February 2024, is now being offered for sale with a guide price starting at £250,000.

The property became redundant following the relocation of the Birmingham Youth Justice Service to new premises on Wake Green Road in Moseley. Birmingham City Council is selling the freehold site through Bond Wolfe’s September auction.

Situated in Halescroft Square, the site comprises a single-storey building alongside a detached two-storey structure. Both are set back from the road behind a forecourt, nestled within a residential area.

Gurpreet Bassi, chief executive of Bond Wolfe, commented, “This is a site in a residential area in Northfield that is now available to be repurposed for a variety of uses, subject to planning permission. Northfield offers easy access to Birmingham city centre while being close to the scenic north Worcestershire countryside, making this property attractive to developers and investors seeking potential opportunities.”

The principal building includes a hall, storage cupboard, assembly hall with office and kitchen space, as well as a rear lobby with offices and washroom facilities. The adjacent house features an interview room, common room, hall, kitchen, and store, with four offices and meeting rooms located on the first floor. An external garage is also part of the premises.

This site is one of several lots being sold on behalf of Birmingham City Council through regular auctions conducted by Bond Wolfe. The upcoming auction is scheduled to begin at 8.30am on Thursday, 10 September. Interested bidders can participate remotely via proxy, telephone, or online, with the sale broadcast live on Bond Wolfe’s website.
