Foreign Office Updates Travel Advice for Eight Countries Amid Middle East Crisis

The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has updated its travel advice for eight countries overnight, reflecting rising concerns amid the ongoing crisis in the Middle East and Iran. These changes, effective from March 6, affect popular holiday spots and key regional countries including Israel, Lebanon, Palestine, Kuwait, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Jordan.

The updated advice introduces “do not travel” warnings for some nations, while altering guidance on departing others. In Bangladesh, the FCDO has highlighted new global travel disruptions linked to escalating Middle East tensions. Pakistan’s advisory now includes updated details on regional unrest, including flight cancellations and protests.

In Lebanon, British nationals are urged to register their presence with the Foreign Office due to increased instability. Similarly, in Azerbaijan, the FCDO has issued fresh warnings following drone strikes in Nakhchivan, emphasizing heightened regional risks.

Travel to Kuwait is now restricted to essential journeys only, with additional alerts about terrorism risks on the “Safety and security” page. The FCDO recommends that British travellers in Kuwait also register their presence online. Meanwhile, in Jordan, the guidance on terrorism risks has been revised, prompting travellers to consult the safety information before visiting.

Significant changes have been made regarding travel to Israel and Palestine, including updated details on safe departure routes amid the crisis.

These adjustments follow the arrival of the first Labour Party government-chartered evacuation flight, which brought British nationals home safely from Muscat, Oman to London Stansted on March 6. More than 140,000 Britons have registered with the FCDO in the Middle East region, with over 4,000 having returned to the UK this week alone.

Travellers are advised to check the latest Foreign Office updates before planning or continuing their journeys in these affected regions.
