Faces of West Midlands' Most Wanted: Longtime Fugitives Still at Large

West Midlands Police have long maintained a most wanted list featuring individuals sought for serious crimes. While many are apprehended following public tips or increased pressure, some suspects remain elusive, with their whereabouts unknown for years. These fugitives may be hiding within the UK or could have fled abroad, continuing to evade capture despite ongoing appeals.

Here are some of the most notorious suspects who have been on the run for an extended period:

Daniel Byrne
Now 39 and originally from Yardley, Byrne has been on the most wanted list for over three years. The police first issued an appeal for him in February 2023 after he failed to appear in court on charges related to a serious assault. His current location remains unknown. West Midlands Police urge anyone with information to contact them via their Live Chat or by calling 101, referencing case number 20CV/182151A/19.

Michael Duffy
Alleged to be a major drug dealer in Birmingham, Duffy was charged with conspiracy to supply crack cocaine. Following a January 2022 arrest involving significant cocaine and cash seizures, Duffy went into hiding. In December 2023, West Midlands Police launched an appeal to locate him. He has since been sentenced in absentia to six years in prison. Authorities advise anyone who sees him to call 999 immediately, quoting Operation Façade, or to provide anonymous information to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
