Exact Timing for Snowfall in Birmingham This Friday Revealed by Met Office

The Met Office has pinpointed the exact hours when snowfall is expected to blanket Birmingham this Friday. A yellow weather warning for snow remains active until midday on January 2, signaling residents to prepare for icy conditions.

Forecast maps indicate snow could start falling before noon, accompanied by an ice warning. Temperatures will hover around 0°C throughout the morning, rise slightly to 1°C early afternoon, and peak at 2°C between 1 pm and 3 pm. After 4 pm, temperatures will gradually drop, reaching freezing again by 7 pm.

According to BBC Weather, “Patchy rain, sleet, and snow will gradually clear from southern areas by the morning. Most regions will enjoy cold, sunny spells, though north-facing coastal zones may experience intermittent snow showers.”

As night falls, the cold and dry conditions will persist for most, with clear skies expected. However, coastal areas will remain windy, with snow showers continuing, particularly heavy across northern Scotland.

Looking ahead, the BBC’s outlook for Sunday through Tuesday states, “Sunday will be cold and dry, with sleet and snow showers developing along north-facing coastal regions. On Tuesday, cloud and rain will move in from the west, accompanied by snow in northern Scotland. Wednesday starts cloudy with showers, and longer periods of rain and hill snow will reach northern and western areas in the afternoon.”

Met Office Meteorologist Jonathan Vautrey warned of plunging temperatures, saying, “By early Saturday morning, temperatures could fall as low as -10°C in snow-covered areas of Scotland. In towns and cities across the UK, expect readings between -3°C and -4°C. The weekend will be bitterly cold for everyone.”

He also noted a possible wind shift on Saturday, potentially bringing additional wintry showers to England’s eastern coasts.

Chief Superintendent Scott McCarren, Police Scotland’s head of road policing, urged caution: “Plan ahead and consider if your journey is essential or can be postponed until conditions improve. If you must travel, drive carefully according to the conditions, expect delays, and allow extra time. Please respect road closures—they are implemented solely for public safety.”

Stay attentive to weather updates and exercise caution during this period of wintry weather in Birmingham.
