Exact Hour Snow Ends in Birmingham with ‘No More Flurries’

The precise hour that snow will stop falling in Birmingham has been confirmed following the impact of Storm Goretti, which brought intense snowfall to the city overnight. The Met Office’s hourly weather forecasts reveal that while Birmingham experienced snowfall throughout the early hours of Friday, January 9, the snow will cease by mid-morning.

An amber warning for snow remains in effect for Wales, the Midlands, and parts of northern England but is set to be lifted at 9 a.m. Correspondingly, the snow is forecast to end around this time, offering relief to residents.

Snow showers are expected hourly from 5 a.m. through 8 a.m., but by 9 a.m., the flurries will stop entirely. Despite the clearing weather, travel disruptions continue, with Birmingham Airport halting runway use and train cancellations in Cornwall and Devon. Additionally, over 65,000 homes remain without power across the South West and Midlands.

Overnight, variable cloud and occasional showers—some falling as snow in Scotland and southern hills—are expected, with winds easing in the southeast.

Looking ahead, Saturday will bring coastal showers that may turn wintry inland, while most areas will remain dry with patchy fog and winter sunshine. Sunday will be cloudy and windy, with a rain band sweeping east across the UK and snow on its leading edge in Scotland, northern England, and northern Wales. Coastal gales are likely. Monday will remain breezy with scattered showers, and Tuesday is forecast to be overcast with rain moving in from the south, along with milder temperatures.
