The UK faces a continuation of bitterly cold weather into early December, with parts of the country expecting a sharp drop in temperatures down to -7°C alongside fresh snowfall.
Weather forecasts from WXCHARTS and Netweather indicate that the chilly conditions will intensify next week, bringing snow and freezing temperatures to various regions. On December 3, light snow showers, with accumulations up to 1mm per hour, are predicted across Scotland, England, and Wales.
The hardest-hit areas include the Scottish Highlands, Cumbria, and Conwy, where snow and frost are expected to settle. Meanwhile, parts of the UK’s west coast, the Midlands, and Devon will experience light rain at rates up to 3mm per hour.

By December 4, temperatures in the Scottish Highlands could plunge below freezing, ranging between -1°C and -7°C—significantly colder than the usual December average of 5°C.
The Met Office’s long-range outlook for November 29 to December 8 suggests changeable and unsettled weather dominated by low-pressure systems. This pattern will bring showers or longer spells of rain, particularly in the west, with the possibility of some snow on northern high ground.
Periods of strong winds are also possible, especially along coastal areas, if deep low-pressure systems develop near the UK. There may be brief drier spells, particularly in the southeast, but overall temperatures are expected to hover around or slightly above average.
UK residents should prepare for wintry weather in the coming days as the Arctic blast takes hold, bringing frosts, snow, and gusty winds across the country.
